Mary Anne Avena, MD
Residency Program: USC Internal Medicine
What Matters Most to Me?
I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of my patients. My goal is to ensure they feel heard, respected, and supported as we work together to achieve what matters most to them.
Why USC/LAGMC Geriatric Medicine Fellowship?
I chose to stay at LAGMC after completing my residency not only because of its excellent clinical training, but also because I wanted to continue learning from leaders and mentors who are committed to helping me become an excellent Geriatrician. I was drawn to the program’s culture of teaching, collaboration and dedication to caring for older adults with complex medical and social needs.
Working in LAGMC represents continuation of my journey as a physician. From my early experiences caring for underserved communities in the Philippines to now serving Angelenos, my commitment to caring for vulnerable populations has remained the same.
After Fellowship?
I am interested in outpatient and home-based geriatric primary care. In the future, I would also like to pursue a medical directorship role in long-term care.
